The Challenge
Construction sites affected by artesian groundwater present significant challenges for developers and contractors. Highly variable water flows, changing water quality and strict environmental discharge requirements can make surface water management both technically complex and commercially demanding. Traditional treatment methods are often unable to respond effectively to these changing conditions and can create additional environmental challenges when deployed on site. A bespoke approach was required to safely and sustainably manage highly variable artesian water whilst maintaining compliance with environmental discharge requirements.
Developing an Innovative Solution
Working alongside project partners, BlueJay Environmental Consultants undertook extensive testing and evaluation to develop a treatment methodology capable of adapting to complex site conditions. Multiple treatment approaches were trialled under both controlled and real-world conditions, with water quality parameters continually assessed throughout the development process. By combining innovative treatment techniques with carefully engineered attenuation systems, the project team established an effective and scalable solution capable of responding to significant variations in water flow and quality.
The Outcome
